Description

Subtitle: More than mandatory reporting: nurses’ legal and ethical responsibilities in child abuse and neglect
Summary:
Nurses are mandated reporters of child abuse and neglect. However mandatory reporting alone does not meet children’s needs. The National Framework for Protecting Australia’s Children (2021-2031) aims to ensure all families have early support so children can thrive in their own families and communities. This presentation summarises nurses’ legal responsibilities in mandatory reporting and explores emerging evidence for nurses’ ethical responsibilities prevention and early intervention for child abuse
