Hosted by the University of Melbourne, the Australasian Association of Writing Programs (AAWP) 2025 conference was held at the Parkville campus, situated on the unceded lands of the Wurundjeri people. This conference brought together academics, graduate researchers, authors and independent scholars active in the field of creative writing studies for three days of scholarly and creative exchange on the theme of "Movement & Stasis".

On 4th December, Session 6A, Kendrea presented “Footsteps and corridors: creative readings of The Asylum Gene, linking affective ambush, memory, emotion, rhythmanalysis, and embodied knowledge through creative practice”. This was a hybrid creative/critical presentation using audiovisuals, poetry, life writing, visual art and Mad studies.
