Dr Maria Alejandra Pinero de Plaza was featured as the winner recipient of the Healthcare Innovator Award in the 14th edition of MAGNIFY, a national publication by STEM Sisters celebrating 60 women of colour making outstanding contributions to STEM in Australia.
The Healthcare Innovator Award acknowledges significant achievements in healthcare, medical research, or patient care. Dr Pinero de Plaza was recognised for her work developing and applying the PROLIFERATE and PROLIFERATE_AI frameworks—tools for evaluating innovation and AI in healthcare systems. Her work in the RAPIDx AI project, implemented across 12 hospitals in South Australia, was a key example of ethical, human-centred AI evaluation in action.
