Description
Type: Public Engagement / Translational Research ContributionDate: 8 May 2025
Location: Kintore Seminar Room, CSIRO Adelaide, South Australia
Organiser: CSIRO Innovation Program
Description:
Dr Maria Alejandra Pinero de Plaza was invited as a guest speaker for ON Prime 17 Adelaide, a CSIRO-led program designed to support Australian researchers in translating science into real-world impact. This marked her second invitation to speak at the ON Prime program, where she shared lessons from her own experience participating in CSIRO’s innovation journey, including the application of PROLIFERATE_AI for evaluating digital health and AI implementation in complex systems.
The talk focused on human-centred innovation, ethical translation of research, and implementation science as a foundation for designing scalable, sustainable solutions. The event brought together early-stage research teams across multiple disciplines, offering Dr Pinero de Plaza the opportunity to support and encourage the next generation of science-driven innovators.
Recognised Contributions:
Invited speaker at a national innovation platform
Shared implementation science and translational research learnings
Highlighted PROLIFERATE_AI as a model for system-aware, real-world evaluation
Supported research translation capacity-building in early-stage teams
Impact:
This engagement supported knowledge exchange between experienced and emerging researchers and helped bridge research and innovation through real-world application. It also strengthened visibility for Flinders-led initiatives in human-centred evaluation, AI ethics, and science translation.
