Description
This discussion looks at Ikarian emigration from the Aegean region to South Australia between 1900-1945 (loosely corresponding to the period between Federation and WWII). Of focus will be their settlement and community formation, especially in key locations in South Australia such as Port Pirie and the Adelaide CBD.This talk is an update of the talk given in 2022 and presents the outcomes of a larger PhD project aimed at exploring Aegean islander migration to the English-speaking world between 1815-1945 – with the Ikarians of South Australia (1900-1945) being one case study.
