Description

3.05 Integrate to Innovate: Science, Maths & Digital Tools in Project Based Learning
Dr Sarah Wickham & Dr David Hosken, Flinders University
This hands-on session shows how project-based learning can seamlessly braid science, mathematics and digital
technologies to lift engagement and deepen understanding. We’ll unpack some project ideas, then run activities you
can take straight back to class. Each exemplar is mapped to Australian Curriculum v9 (Science, Mathematics, and
Digital Technologies), highlights general capabilities (critical/creative thinking, ICT capability, numeracy), and includes
low-cost options for resource-constrained schools. We’ll share what actually worked, including pitfalls, timing,
assessment approaches, and differentiation for diverse learners. Suitable for upper-primary through secondary, the
session prioritises practical classroom moves over theory, so you leave with confidence, and a plan to integrate
project-based learning.
