Description
Nine creative arts practitioners from Flinders University presented their work on Assemblage's Night of Creative Readings. Each had a ten minute slot for reading and 10 minutes for audience questions. Kendrea's reading, her creative piece, "My Friend Music: and she was", also included a one minute clip of the song, And She Was by Talking Heads."My Friend Music: and she was" is an edited and extended version of Kendrea's original story, first published on the Stereo Stories website. As an artist and a researcher, Kendrea combines creative practice with Mad Studies, history, and creative writing. The opportunity to share this creative work is a privilege and an important aspect of Kendrea's research, involving social impact. Kendrea follows certain Mad Studies goals, which are: to focus on Mad voices, engage beyond the academy, disrupt sanism, and share Mad knowledges and history.
