Description
This posthuman artists laboratory, utilises innovative creative writing strategies inspired by posthuman theory. We use the laboratory to experiment with collaborative creative writing practices, challenging established professional writers to create work that goes beyond the current plethora of dystopian imaginings in climate fiction. The laboratory is a unique iteration of research-in-practice. In addition to the three research team members, who are all award-winning writers, five Adelaide-basedacademics and authors participated in the laboratory to collaborate on writings which reconfigure the climate change ‘crisis’ as ‘the coming into focus of new conditions for relational encounters, understanding and knowledge production’ (Rosi Braidotti, 2016: 28). During the Laboratory, the writers responded to climate fiction already in circulation; focussed on their affective feelings towards the issue of climate change; wrote “inplace” in response to the built environment; and collaboratively envisioned a new form of climate story.
