Description
Invited for a one-hour interview on Inner View with Eleonora, a program on Radio Adelaide 101.5 FM that serves as a platform for in-depth discussions, knowledge exchange, and community engagement. Inner View facilitates the sharing of lived experiences that are locally relevant, socially impactful, educational, or personally significant, reaching audiences via FM radio, digital radio, and online streaming.During the interview, I provided a critical reflection on my career trajectory, examining my transition from secondary education into the Australian Defence Force, followed by professional roles in policing and social work, and culminating in my current PhD research at Flinders University. The discussion integrated both professional and academic perspectives, highlighting the intersections between practice, policy, and research.
A significant portion of the conversation focused on my research into the non-profit sector supporting veterans, particularly in relation to service provision, community impact, and policy implications. Ethical considerations in qualitative research were also explored, with an emphasis on the methodological challenges of designing interview questions that elicit meaningful and unbiased data. In addition, the interview examined theoretical and applied perspectives on career transitions, professional identity shifts, and the broader socio-political landscape influencing veteran support services. The discussion concluded with a conceptual exploration of identity and transformation, including an interdisciplinary dialogue on cognitive continuity through a hypothetical brain transplant scenario.
