Description
Acid Queen is a short film produced by screen and drama lecturers at Flinders University.Screen lecturers Tom Young (producer/director), Helen Carter (cinematography) and drama lecturer Tiffany Knight (director/casting), collaborated to shoot a short drama film while mentoring students from screen SCME2072, and as crew and third year drama students from DRAP3121 in acting roles. Students worked alongside screen and drama staff practitioners with supervised on-set experience in a WIL environment. This shoot provided students with the confidence to apply for work in these crew and cast roles and contributed towards them being sought after in the local film industry.
The film was a finalist in several film festivals including St Kilda Film Festival and winning at the local Glenelg Film Festival
'The Acid Queen' is a short psychological thriller: Georgia Lasko is a brilliant psychiatrist and chemist who has developed a way of turning rebels into loyalist assassins by using high doses of LSD. The treatment is controversial but highly effective. The government want it known that if you rebel you will not only end up caught but kill your own friends and family. She has been invited to the government retraining institute to demonstrate her skills. However, instead of creating killers loyal to the state, she is making them loyal to her.
