Description
1066 was a pivotal year in English history, with a slew of contenders battling to take control of the country's throne.William of Normandy was ultimately successful when he won the Battle of Hastings in October that year and defeated King Harold Godwinson, who was fresh from defeating Norwegian invader Harald Hardrada.
