Description
In this 50th Anniversary Year of the Academy of the Social Sciences in Australia, there is no shortage of challenges to which the disciplines of the social sciences can and do contribute evidence and expertise.International relationships, climate change, and the COVID-19 pandemic are major challenges, as are reconciliation with First Nation peoples, violence toward women, and changes in the way we work and interact with technology.
The research and policy contributions of the social sciences to these and other challenges are addressed in the 50thAnniversary Symposium, The Social Future of Australia. Also addressed are the challenges that our disciplines face in terms of the reception of social science evidence and expertise by government, the media, and the general public.
With six presentation sessions, three roundtable sessions, around 60 participants, the Symposium will focus on the ways forward for the challenges, the social sciences, and Australian society.
