Research Biography

Abolfazl received his BSc degree in Mechanical Engineering—Fluid Mechanics and Heat Transfer from the University of Birjand in 2015 with a project topic on wind turbines. He earned his MSc degree in Aerospace Engineering—Aerodynamics from Amirkabir University of Technology (Tehran Polytechnic) in 2018, while he worked on the aerodynamics of Darrieus Vertical-Axis Wind Turbines (VAWTs) for his thesis. Between 2018 and 2023, he worked as a Research Assistant at the Department of Aerospace Engineering at Amirkabir University of Technology in the same field of study. Since 2023, he has been pursuing a PhD in Mechanical Engineering with a research emphasis on the aerodynamics of Darrieus VAWTs at Flinders University.

Abolfazl's studies are focused on Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) methods to explore the unsteady aerodynamics of different objects, mainly wind turbines. He has been actively engaged in research focused on the aerodynamics of Darrieus wind turbines. His primary objective is to enhance their efficiency by gaining a deeper understanding of the complex unsteady flow structure and by exploring advanced flow control techniques. He has successfully published several research papers in well-known peer-reviewed journals, and his research is now being continued in collaboration with VAWT-X Energy in South Australia.
