Research Biography

Aileen holds a joint appointment as Associate Professor Palliative and Aged Care Nursing, Division of Aged Care, Palliative Care and Rehabilitation at Northern Adelaide Local Health Network and the Research Centre for Palliative Care Death and Dying at Flinders University. She has worked as a specialist palliative care nurse in a diverse range of settings in Scotland, Aotearoa NZ as well as Australia. Her research program is focused on safety, quality and equity of palliative and end of life care. She is passionate about building nursing capacity in palliative and end-of-life care research. Aileen's research interests and teaching philosophy undergirds a commitment to her practical work, with moral and pragmatic questions always being anchored to clinical 'realities'. She is an advocate of interdisciplinary research that brings together diverse disciplines in response to 'wicked' problems.
