Andrew Bills researches educational policy, politics and practice in school communities and educational systems. He has held positions as an educational leader, diagnostic school reviewer, teacher, researcher and public education leadership consultant. He has extensive experience in research and consultancy partnerships involving international, national and state educational organisations including:
He facilitates professional formation support for new and experienced school leaders and currently leads two research projects within the Catholic Education and Independent schooling systems. His latest work investigates the changing educational landscape in Australia in relation to the exponential growth of publicly funded Specialised Assistance Schools (FLOs) and Bespoke schooling entities.
He works within the research traditions of phenomenology and critical policy sociology, foregrounding emancipatory action research and appreciative inquiry methodologies for school development and leadership formation.
