Research Biography

Professor Andrew Parkin served as Interim Executive Dean of the Faculty of Education, Humanities and Law for the period February-June 2017. From May 2007 until January 2017, he served as Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic). He is now scheduled to join the new College of Business, Government and Law.  Professor Parkin is a political scientist whose academic career at Flinders University has included terms as Associate Head (Research) of the former Faculty of Social Sciences, Head of the former School of Political and International Studies, and Director of the Flinders Institute of Public Policy and Management. He has served as Editor of the Australian Journal of Political Science, as President of the Australasian Political Studies Association and as a member of the Australian Research Council's College of Experts.  He is a National Fellow of the Institute of Public Administration Australia.

Research Interests

Professor Parkin's research expertise encompasses governmental and public policy processes, intergovernmental relations within the Australian federal system, urban and housing policy, aspects of criminal justice policy, immigration policy, Australian and South Australian politics, and liberal-democratic theory and practice.
