Research Biography

Anthony J. Langlois is a critical human rights theorist with a focus on sexuality and gender rights. He is an Associate Professor in International Relations at Flinders University, Adelaide, Australia, where he was till recently the Government Teaching Program Director for the College of Business, Government and Law. He was educated at the University of Tasmania and the Australian National University. Langlois is the author of The Politics of Justice and Human Rights: Southeast Asia and Universalist Theory (Cambridge University Press, 2001) and Co-Editor of Global Democracy and its Difficulties (Routledge 2009) and Australian Foreign Policy: Controversies and Debates (Oxford University Press, 2014). As well as being published in many scholarly journals, he sits on the editorial board of The Journal of Human Rights. In 2010 he was a Senior Visiting Fellow for six months in the Centre for International Studies at the London School of Economics and Political Science. In 2014 he visited at the Centre for Advanced International Theory at the University of Sussex. His areas of academic endeavour include Human Rights Theory, International Relations, Global Sexuality Politics, International Political Theory and Global Ethics.
