I am an implementation-focused public health nutrition researcher working to improve nutrition, food security, and health equity in rural, remote, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander, and low-resource settings in Australia and internationally.
My research is grounded in local realities and focused on practical change. I work with communities, practitioners, and policymakers to design, implement, and evaluate approaches that respond to the social, geographic, and structural conditions shaping health.
Alongside my research, I contribute to rural health workforce development through teaching, mentoring, and partnership-based learning. Across these areas, my work strengthens evidence-informed practice, supports local decision-making, and addresses nutrition and health inequities.
My expertise spans public health nutrition, implementation science, food systems, health equity, participatory research, and rural health workforce development. My research focuses on maternal and child nutrition and the food retail environment in remote communities. Across these areas, I use community-engaged, qualitative, and mixed-methods approaches to generate evidence for policy and practice.
My current research interests centre on how nutrition interventions can be designed, implemented, and embedded in ways that reflect everyday life, particularly in rural and remote communities.
I am especially interested in maternal and child nutrition, including how infant and young child feeding is shaped by household routines, family and social networks, time pressures, food access, and the practical realities of caregiving.
I also investigate how local priorities, relationships, service capacity, and trust influence whether interventions are adopted, adapted, and sustained in practice.
Looking ahead, I am interested in how locally led, equity-focused approaches can strengthen workforce sustainability and improve health and nutrition outcomes across the life course.
