Research Biography

Barbara is a biostatistician with more than 15 years of professional experience ranging from the government to the university sector. Prior to joining Flinders University she provided statistical advice and support to her colleagues at Neuroscience Research Australia (NeuRA), UNSW, Sydney and National Drug and Alcohol Research Centre (NDARC), UNSW, Sydney.

She has also a combined 7 years experience working in demography at the Office for National statistics (UK) and Statistics NZ (NZ). In that time she focused on geographical variation in mortality, mortality by cause of death, life expectancy in small areas, dynamics and motivations of migrations.

Barbara is currently the president of the South Australia branch of Statistical Society Australia. Her current research interests are survival analysis, meta-analysis, mixed models and count models.
