Research Biography

Dr Cara Rossi (BPsyc (Hons I), PhD (Clin Psych)) is a registered and practicing clinical psychologist, currently undertaking undergraduate and postgraduate topic design and delivery as a Teaching Specialist within psychology at Flinders University. Thus, her current research focusses on teaching and learning within tertiary psychology degrees.

Dr Rossi's doctoral thesis was completed in the area of social psychology, and she remains connected to the Psychology of Justice, Emotions, and Wellbeing (PsychJEM) Lab within the College of Education, Psychology and Social Work.

Research Interests

As a teaching specialist/clinical practitioner, Dr Rossi's research interests surround improving teaching of clinical skills within psychology. Broad guiding questions include: How do we teach and assess clinical skills within postgraduate programs? How do we know that psychology graduates have appropriate skills to enter the industry? Can we adapt training programs (provide interventions) to better equip psychology students with the skills they will require when entering the industry?

Her recent focuses have been on developing reflexivity skills within undergraduate and postgraduate psychology students, and testing the effectiveness of simulation-based learning (e.g. simulated clients, role plays) for postgraduate psychology students.
