My name is Darryl Cameron (MPH), I am of Aboriginal descent (Ngarrindjeri) and reside in Murray Bridge SA. Darryl has over twenty years of working as an Aboriginal Health Worker, Manager, Educator and more recently as a team leader in Flinders Medical Centre.
Darryl worked as an Aboriginal educator with the Aboriginal Health Council of SA (AHCSA).
AHCSA being the peak body for the Aboriginal Community Controlled health Services (ACCHS) and there are currently 10 such services throughout rural and remote SA.
As an educator my primary role was to teach certificate 111 and IV in Aboriginal Primary Health Care (community and clinical).
Darryl until recently, held the position of team leader of the Aboriginal liaison officers (7 staff) within the Flinders Medical Centre(FMC).
Darryl has dedicated 20 years(plus) to 'closing the gap' and has a focus on chronic disease conditions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and their communities.
Darryl has the capacity, experience, knowledge and energy of being able to liaise and engage with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and this has been demonstrated as an educator delivering health programs (Good Medicines Better Health (GMBH)) throughout SA, Northern Queensland and the NT.
As an Aboriginal person, Darryl want to be part of making a difference and to make it possible for Aboriginnal and Torres Strait Islander people to have equal access to education at a higher level.
