Research Biography

I commenced my current role in January 2008. From 1996, I was Lecturer and from 2001 Senior Lecturer, Quality Management and Program Coordinator, Graduate Diploma in Quality Systems at Massey University in New Zealand. Before moving to New Zealand I had held a variety of research, curriculum development, teaching and management positions in the TAFE sector in South Australia.
My teaching and research interests span learning and teaching in higher education, quality in higher education and critical systems thinking and practice.

I am an active member of the SA Branch committee of HERDSA

Research Interests

  • Learning, teaching and curriculum design
  • Critical systems thinking and systems approaches to problem solving
  • Quality and quality management in tertiary education

I have authored/co-authored 20 refereed journal articles and over 30 refereed conference papers since 1995. I am a regular reviewer for 'Quality in Higher Education' and 'Quality Assurance in Education'.
In 2008 I successfully bid with colleagues from AUT University and Massey University for a New Zealand Tertiary Education Commission grant ($NZ595,000.00) to develop 'A knowledge hub to aid engagement between the manufacturing sector and universities'. The website developed as part of the project was launched in July 2010.
