Research Biography
Ms. Geraldine Laven-Law is a Research Associate working with the Bowel Health Service team, Flinders Centre for Innovation in Cancer, led by Assoc. Prof. Erin Symonds.
Geraldine is passionate about cancer biomarkers and is currently working on the discovery, development, and evaluation of a novel panel of non-invasive biomarkers to detect inflammation, colorectal cancer, and early pre-cancerous states in people experiencing gastrointestinal symptoms.
The development of a non-invasive biomarker panel will help guide clinicians on whether their symptomatic patients need urgent colonoscopy, reducing the burden on the public healthcare system and the patient through reducing the number of colonoscopies performed unnecessary
