Gideon Dzando is a Registered Nurse and Nurse Academic whose research focuses on frailty, healthy ageing, and health equity among culturally and linguistically diverse populations, with a particular emphasis on Sub-Saharan African communities and older migrants. His work seeks to improve understanding of ageing across diverse cultural contexts by developing and validating culturally responsive approaches to frailty measurement, screening, and interpretation.

His research combines epidemiology, psychometrics, and advanced quantitative methods to investigate the multidimensional nature of frailty and its determinants. He has expertise in instrument development and validation, exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis (EFA/CFA), receiver operating characteristic (ROC) analysis, regression modelling, mediation and moderated mediation analysis, structural equation modelling, and longitudinal and population-based data analysis. He is experienced in the use of R, SPSS, and structural equation modelling frameworks for analysing complex health data.

His broader research interests include healthy ageing, quality of life, social determinants of health, migrant and minority health, mental health in later life, ageism, resilience, and ageing in low-resource and cross-cultural settings. His research aims to generate evidence that informs policy, strengthens culturally responsive clinical practice, and supports equitable health outcomes for ageing populations.

Gideon is also a founding member of the Africa Interdisciplinary Health Conference, an international platform that brings together researchers, policymakers, and practitioners to foster interdisciplinary health research and strengthen collaborations across Africa and globally.
