Research Biography

Dr Hailey Meaklim [BSc(Hons), Mpsych, PhD, DBSM] is a Senior Research Fellow and NHMRC Emerging Leadership Fellow at the Flinders Health and Medical Research Institute (FHMRI): Sleep Health program. Hailey’s research focuses on improving the translation of evidence-based sleep and insomnia treatments into routine mental healthcare. She also seeks to advance our understanding of the mechanisms underlying insomnia to enable the development of more targeted and effective treatments.

At just 2.5 years post-PhD, Hailey has authored 36 publications and has been awarded >$8 million in research grants and awards, with $1.075 million in funding as CIA including the prestigious NHMRC Investigator Award. She has received multiple international research awards including the Australasian Sleep Associations New Investigator Award, the U.S Sleep Research Society’s Outstanding Early Investigator Award, and the U.S. Society of Behavioural Sleep Medicine Innovation in Behavioural Sleep Medicine Award.

Hailey is also a registered psychologist and worked for 10 years at leading sleep disorder clinics in Melbourne, including Melbourne Sleep Disorders Centre and St Vincent’s Hospital Sleep Centre. She is also an Honorary Research Fellow at the John Trinder Sleep Laboratory at the University of Melbourne. Hailey was the first Australian psychologist to achieve U.S. Board-Certification in Behavioural Sleep Medicine.
