Research Biography

James is a senior lecturer and teaching specialist who divides his time between roles in Medicine (as the Assessment Lead) and, Paramedicine where he coordinates the capstone program and clinical assessment topics.

For over 15 years he has been the leading driver of the scholarship of teaching and learning in Paramedicine in South Australia and his work has been recognised at national and international levels and has influenced practice within other disciplines. 

His academic practice is grounded in an extensive clinical career, which spanned a variety of roles within Australia and the United Kingdom, including senior appointments as an Emergency Nurse Practitioner and an Extended Care Paramedic.

James has a range of research interests and has previously led studies in education, learning and assessment design, patient assessment skills and decision making, physiology, and resuscitation skills competency.
