With a background in psychology, education, and music, Kath Whitson is an associate lecturer in the College of Education, Psychology, and Social Work at Flinders University. She also works as a research officer at Military and Emergency Services Health Australia (MESHA), a charity of The Hospital Research Foundation Group, and research study assistant at the University of Adelaide on the national Equip research project—a study focused on psychologically preparing rural communities for climate change-related extreme weather events.
Kath has earned a Bachelor of Music (Performance), a Bachelor of Education (Primary) at the University of Canberra, a Bachelor of Psychological Sciences at the University of New England, and Honours (First Class) in Psychological Sciences at the University of Adelaide. Currently at MESHA, she is assisting with studies researching trauma and suicide in populations focused on military veterans, emergency service members, and their families. Previously, she has worked on several research projects in the Aged Care sector, including an evaluation, funded by The Hospital Research Foundation Group, of technology-use in an Aged Care setting, at the University of South Australia.
