Research Biography

Kathie obtained her PhD from Flinders University in 1984 and a Graduate Certificate in Tertiary Education in 1997. In 2007 she was awarded an Australian Carrick Citation for outstanding contribution to student learning and in 2010 the Australasian Society of Clinical and Experimental Pharmacologists and Toxicologists (ASCEPT) Teaching Excellence Award. Kathie served as ASCEPT President (2008-2009) and was awarded Life Membership of ASCEPT in 2015. She was Chairperson of the Flinders University Scholarships Committee 2005 – 2009 and Professor in Clinical Pharmacology 2008-2014. Currently she is a Professor Emeritus in the College of Medicine and Public Health.

Her main research interests were the metabolism of carboxylic acids, renal drug metabolism and the interplay between renal drug and endobiotic metabolism. She has published 71 research papers, 8 book chapters and is an author of the highly successful text Pharmacology for Health Professionals (Elsevier). She was a member of the editorial board of Drug Metabolism Reviews (2012-2018) and is currently a member of the British Journal of Clinical Pharmacology International Editorial Board (2012-2020).
