Research Biography

Since obtaining my PhD in science from the University of Melbourne, I have worked for many years across health care in diverse roles from research synthesis and communication, to health economic analysis, and basic research. These varied roles were undertaken in Australia, Europe, and the US for academic institutes, government agencies and commercial consultancy services. Through this experience I have gained a high level of research understanding, and developed considerable skill in the effective analysis, appraisal and communication of research to inform various stakeholder groups including policymakers, health practitioners, commercial clients, students and the general public.

In health economics my roles included working as a consultant conducting cost-effectiveness analyses for pharmaceutical industry clients based on application of the CORE health economic outcomes diabetes simulation model (IMS Health Switzerland). Identification and use of evidence to underpin model inputs and project development was a core component of this work. In addition to this, in my position at the Primary Health Care Research and Information Service (PHCRIS, Australia), I was responsible for the preparation of literature based Rapid reviews of current evidence and research relevant to primary health care policy and practice, for use by government and health care professionals. I am now working with CareSearch to manage evidence-based content on end-of-life and palliative care for the CareSearch and palliAGED websites providing guidance for general public and health practitioner audiences.
