Research Biography
Kirsteen Munro is a researcher, currently undertaking a PhD candidature, with a particular focus on health communication, behavioural change campaigns, and the unintended effects of public service advertising. Her research explores the intersection between behaviour change marketing, policy, and social justice, examining how government and media strategies influence perceptions, behaviours and outcomes across diverse populations. Kirsteen’s work critically investigates the design, delivery, and consequences of public information campaigns. Her research aims to ensure that public messaging is evidence-based, ethically sound, and responsive to the nuanced realities of both target and non-target audiences. Her recent projects include examining the policy frameworks guiding drug prevention advertising in Australia, analysing the spill-over effects of shock-based public service announcements, and contributing to the development of more inclusive and harm-reducing policy to mitigate the harms from campaign strategies.
