Personal profile
Research Biography
After completing an Bachelor of Psychological Science at the University of Adelaide, Laura went on to complete an Honours year and PhD working in the Cognition, Ageing and Neurodegenerative Disease Laboratory under the supervision of A/Prof Lyndsey Collins-Praino, graduating in 2025. Laura is currently working part time as a post-doctoral research associate at Flinders University in the area of virology and infectious diseases with Professor Jill Carr.
Research Interests
Laura’s research is focused on investigating risk factors for neurodegenerative diseases, specifically ageing, traumatic brain injury and viral infection, focusing on the mechanisms of how these events increase disease susceptibility. She is primarily interested in investigating the role that inflammatory mechanisms play in these conditions and hopes to gain an understanding of how the brain’s immune system can be targeted to promote healthy ageing and improve outcomes for neurodegenerative conditions.
