Research Biography

Professor Maria Crotty is a clinical academic and rehabilitation physician. She works at Flinders Medical Centre in the Rehabilitation Service and was unit head until March 2022. She leads a multidisciplinary research group who focus on how to implement best and promising care models and practices within health and aged care settings. Embedded within a healthcare setting their research aims to bridge research and clinical care using implementation science approaches.

Research Interests

Professor Crotty has experience running pragmatic randomised controlled trials in hospital, community and aged care settings. Her trials examine issues of importance to clinicians and policy makers working with older people and those living with disability.   She has undertaken research on new models of care (home rehabilitation, transition care, day rehabilitation). She developed and evaluated models for telerehabilitation using funding from the Commonwealth in 2015. These models were implemented in SA Rehabilitation units in 2017.
