Personal profile
Research Biography
I am a sociologist of cultural production and urban cultural economies, and engage with classical and contemporary social theory to analyse current trends and institutions.
I have a particular research interest in theorising entrepreneurial action within the Creative Industries, the state-market nexus of cultural production, and how the assemblage of finance and digital data shapes creative practice.
Research Interests
My research interests focus on work in the creative industries and theorising this using sociological methods. Substantive areas of research include the sociology of cultural production, entrepreneurial creative labour, and urban cultural governance. Theoretically I draw on the sociological traditions following Bourdieu, Weber, and Polanyi. Methods include qualitative data collection and analysis, and social network analysis.
