Emeritus Professor Mike Kyrios is a semi-retired internationally recognised clinical psychologist who mostly recently held the position of Vice-President and Executive Dean of the College of Education, Psychology and Social Work at Flinders University.
Throughout his career, Emeritus Professor Kyrios has undertaken a range of academic, practice, professional & administrative roles, and currently also holds adjunct positions at Flinders University, the Australian National University, the University of Melbourne, Swinburne University of Technology and the South Australian Health and Medical Research Institute.
While sustaining clinical responsibilities throughout his career (Royal Melbourne Hospital, Albert Road Clinic, private practice), in later years Emeritus Professor Kyrios worked mostly within university settings in teaching, research and administrative roles. He has facilitated teaching and research partnerships with various international universities.
Emeritus Professor Kyrios has been associated with over $34 million in research funding and has over 180 publications. Emeritus Professor Kyrios sits on a range of national and international editorial and review committees and is a prolific presenter to conferences in Australia and internationally in his areas of expertise. He was Scientific Chair for both the 2010 International Congress of Applied Psychology and 2016 World Congress of Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies. Furthermore, he was awarded the 2013 Ian M Campbell Memorial Prize in Clinical Psychology and 2011 Citation for Excellence, Society for General Psychology.
Emeritus Professor Kyrios has contributed significantly to professional bodies, inclusive of the Australian Psychological Society (APS) and Australian Association of Cognitive and Behavioral Therapy (AACBT); he has been elected a Fellow by both organisations. He was APS President (2014-2016) and National Chair of the APS College of Clinical Psychologists (2004 -2006). He has also contributed to a variety of industry, community and consumer groups throughout his career, and has been a consultant to various government bodies on matters relating to his areas of expertise.
