Personal profile
Research Biography
I am an Emeritus Professor in the School of Education involved in postgraduate supervision and research activities.
Research Interests
My research has focused on the use of strategies for learning in classroom and study situations. In recent years this research has been concerned with applications in mathematical problem solving, vocabulary acqusition in language learning and the facilitation by teachers of students' use of learning strategies. In addition I have been involved as a member of teams that have evaluated the effects of interventions on mental health for students in primary schools and early childhood centres.
My current research is focussed on the development of teacher and student knowledge and use of strategies for the self-regulation of learning in STEM subjects. This project is funded by the Australian Research Council 2019-2021, with Stella Vosniadou, Lorraine Graham, Charlotte Dignath and Micheline Chi as fellow investigators.
