I live with my wife, Liz, in Adelaide. My four children, three children in law, and three grandchildren also live in Adelaide. I am an academic rural doctor and Dean of Medicine at Flinders University. My work in the science of rural community based medical education, and its impact on addressing the maldistribution of doctors for rural and underserved areas, has changed the face of medical education and rural medical workforce policy nationally and internationally. My leadership of junior doctor training in general practice has transformed the transition from medical school to post-graduate training for general practice. I am a past President of the Rural Doctors Association of SA, a previous national Vice President of ACRRM, abd a current Council Member of the AMA (SA).
My research has focused on rural health and medical education, particularly the links between innovative longitudinal integrated clerkship pedagogy and medical workforce. Please see the following link to Google Scholar for further details:
