Research Biography

Dr Rozi Binte Rahmat commenced her career as a humanities teacher teaching Years 7 to 11 in Singapore. She was appointed as a Senior Teacher early in her teaching career because of her passion towards quality learning, teaching and assessment. Her commitment to enhancing teachers’ professional learning led her to take the position of School Staff Developer.

After her PhD at Flinders University, she returned to Singapore as an Academy Officer posted to the Academy of Singapore Teachers, supporting teachers to foster a teacher-led culture of collaborative professionalism and continuous learning and improvement. Rozi took the position as a Teaching Fellow at the National Institute of Singapore (Nanyang Technological University), teaching the Teachers-Leader, Middle Management Leadership and other professional learning workshops related to assessment to build Singaporean teacher's capacity to be effective, relevant and responsive educators.

She was involved in engaging teachers with assessment-related professional learning courses under the Prescient banner. Her extensive assessment knowledge led her to take up the position as a Project Officer at the Department for Education. A few of her projects involved strategies to accelerate curriculum achievement and learning, aligning standards and assessments to school improvement processes and professional learning, and adapting Australian Curriculum 9.0 to the local context. She is also a Highly Accomplished and Lead Teachers (HALT) assessor.
