Research Biography

Professor Ruurd Jaarsma is the Clinical and Academic Director of Orthopaedics and Trauma Surgery for the Southern Adelaide Local Health Network. He works as an orthopaedic surgeon out of Flinders Medical Centre and Flinders Private Hospital. His did his training in the Netherlands before moving to Adelaide in 2004. Professor Jaarsma is the Director of Orthopaedic Training, as well as the supervisor to several Australian Orthopaedic Association accredited fellowships at Flinders Medical Centre. His PhD was on the topic of rotational malalignment after femoral fractures.

Research Interests

Research associated with orthopaedic trauma, orthopaedic paediatrics and biomechanical engineering of orthopaedic implants. Line of research around rotational malalignment after long bone nailing.
