Personal profile
Research Biography
My name is Sana Ishaque and I am an early career researcher with a medical background. I have an MSc in Clinical Epidemiology from University of Alberta and a PhD in Public Health from University of Adelaide.
Currently I am working on the adaptation of an online app, co-designed with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander women and health staff in New South Wales, Growin’ Up Health Jarjums; for South Australia based Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women with children under 5-years of age. This project is lead by Prof Billie Bonevski and has an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Governance Group.
The other projects that I have worked on include: a pragmatic cluster randomised controlled trial that involved co-designing and testing the effectiveness of an Aboriginal Informed Diabetes Workforce Training Program; the development of a social needs assessment tool for Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander population; adaptation of an Individualised Quality of Life tool, Measure Yourself Medical Outcomes Profile (MYMOP) for children; and development of a Faces Nausea Scale for children.
My research interests include: scoping and systematic literature reviews, assessment of patient reported outcomes, development/adaptation of patient reported outcome measures, qualitative research and analysis, co-designing/adaptation of complex interventions to optimise cultural and contextual context.
I have also worked as an Internal Scientific Writer with the Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI), Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Adelaide and with the Complementary and Alternative Research and Education (CARE) program, University of Alberta, Canada (Canada’s first academic Pediatric Integrative Medicine Program).
