Research Interests

Through my research I am to contribute to ensuring that the public are well served by our graduate health professionals. I have two primary areas of research. I am interested in the nature of health professional competency - what is it and how can educators facilitate its development through university and workplace based learning and assessment to ensure that the public is well served by our graduate health professionals? Secondly, I am addressing the quality of assessment/outcome measures, in particular those related to measurement of communication and dysphagia outcomes, with a view to supporting quality practice and research.

Consultancy: I provide consultation and workshops on developing competency statements, competency based assessment and aligning curriculum with desired performance outcomes and have worked with a range of education agencies and national professional bodies
