Research Interests

My research spans social theory and continental philosophy, with a particular emphasis on the social imaginaries field. My approach is shaped by debates in phenomenology, hermeneutics, and critical theory.

My research interests include social imaginaries, utopia, political ecology, (inter)cultural meaning; the culture/nature divide in modernity; a hermeneutic of modernity and culture; the creative imagination and social imaginaries; autonomy and the political;  power; participatory democracy; the problematic of the world horizon; varieties of worldhood in modernity; romanticism and the enlightenment; multiple modernities; action and social movements; social and cultural creativity; political philosophy.

I am a co-ordinating editor for both the refereed journal Social Imaginaries, and  the Social Imaginaries book series (Rowman and Littlefield).
