Research Biography

Associate Professor Joe Jiang joined Flinders University in 2019. He is an ERA Discipline Leader for Commerce, Management, Tourism and Services (FoR 35). He was Head of Research (Research Liasion) for Flinders Business (School) from Jan 2020 to May 2021. 

He is a current Associate Editor for Applied Psychology: An International Review (ABDC, A) and International Journal of Human Resource Management (ABDC, A); and sits on editorial boards of four leading journals, including Journal of Organizational Behavior (ABDC, A* ), Journal of Vocational Behavior (ABDC, A*), Human Resource Management Journal (ABDC, A), and Australian Journal of Management (ABDC, A). He is the South Australian Representative of Australian and New Zealand Academy of Management (ANZAM), and Co-Chairs the Organizational Behavior Stream. He has edited four special issues at A-ranked journals: Journal of Business Research, Applied Psychology, Social Indicators Research, and Knowledge Management Research & Practice.

Prior to taking up the appointment at Flinders, he worked at Deakin University where he occupied the roles of MBA (International) Director, the inaugural Executive MBA (International) Director, and Deputy Director of China Business Research Centre. Prior to that he held permanent academic positions at Griffith and Central Queensland Universities. Before entering academia, he worked as a trainer and curricumum developer in a world-leading automotive group and a market research manager in a multinational consulting firm.

Joe received the Early Career Researcher Award from the Australian and New Zealand Academy of Management (ANZAM) in 2016, and was also a recipient of the Best Paper Award of the Gender, Diversity, and Indigeneity Stream at the 2015 ANZAM conference. 

Joe has published over 42 peer-reviewed journal articles, among which over 90% (38) are in A/A*/Q1 journals on the ABDC list/WoS/Scimago, including Journal of Organizational Behavior,  Journal of Vocational Behavior, Human Resource Management Journal, International Journal of Human Resource Management, Journal of Safety Research, International Journal of Hospitality Management, Journal of Career Assessment, Personnel Review, Personality and Individual Differences, International Migration, among many others. His work has also been featured in Havard Business Review, and cited in media of over 10 countries such as Sydney Morning Herald, The AgeBrisbane Times, and Canberra Times
