Assessing older people's health related quality of life in aged care settings: unravelling the EQ-5D self-report proxy conundrum

Project Details

Description

The EQ-5D-5L is a short validated questionnaires used to measure a person’s self-reported quality of life. This study will investigate how older people in residential care, with differing levels of cognitive impairment, complete these questionnaires. At the moment, there is very little known about how cognitive decline as we age affects a person’s ability to complete quality of life questionnaires. This project hopes to better understand this process. Our research aims to identify age and cognitive thresholds where we can be confident that an older person is able to reliably self-complete quality of life questionnaires, to assist in the roll out of these questionnaires in practice.
