Assessment of land use change in the Lower Limestone Coast

  • University of South Australia

Project Details

Description

This research seeks to answer the following:
How has the irrigated area (by system type) and plantation area broadly changed by Management Zone since 2011, and what are the associated general groundwater trends?

To answer this, a comparison will be carried out using the ABARES ACLUMP land-use maps from 2011, 2015, and 2021 to determine changes in irrigated and forested areas per management zone. This will be complemented by an analysis of the average groundwater trends (positive/negative) from time series within each management zone.

The work will report an assessment of land-use changes, map changes in irrigated vs. forestry areas, and tabulate all changes at the Management Zone level on the LLC.
