Capacity building for aged care in Asia-Pacific: networks of influence and leadership

Project Details

Description

Within the context of an increasingly aging demographic throughout the Asia-Pacific region, there is a burgeoning necessity for robust aged care services and innovative models akin to those operational in Australia, including residential and community-based care, respite services, and virtual or integrated care frameworks. The development of capacity and capability within the aged care sector stands as a critical and immediate contribution to Australia's health diplomacy efforts in the region.

In response to these imperatives, the proposed Flinders Aged Care Fellowship Program is designed to facilitate an exchange of knowledge and strategies pertinent to the shared challenges inherent in aged care. This program will accommodate a select cohort of fifteen distinguished high-achievers from six Asia-Pacific nations—India, Nepal, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Malaysia, and the Philippines. These individuals will be meticulously chosen to represent a diverse array of health disciplines and sectors that are actively engaged in aged care, ensuring a comprehensive and multifaceted dialogue.

The three components of the program include a pre fellowship online confernece, followed by the fellowship program in Australia, and finally the international multinode hybrid symposium in partner country desintations.
