Digital Transformation in Critical Infrastructure Organisations and their Cybersecurity Management and Governance.

Project Details

Description

Digital transformation (DT) is an adaptation and integration of technological advancements into all areas of an organisation’s operability, resulting in fundamental changes to how the organisation operates and delivers services to its customers. In critical infrastructure organisations, such as those responsible for energy, water, transportation, and healthcare systems, DT, such as industrial IoT, Industry 4.0, and big data technologies, can improve business efficiency, reliability, and safety, but it also introduces new risks and opens such critical systems to new vulnerabilities. The impacts are immense, including not only the destruction of critical operations and systems but also the risk to human lives and the devastation of economically- and socially important properties.

One of the most significant risks associated with digital transformation in critical infrastructure organisations is cybersecurity and new and evolving cyber-attacks could disrupt critical operations and compromise sensitive data. Therefore, cybersecurity resilience management and governance are essential to ensure that critical infrastructure organisations can withstand cyber threats and protect their assets, operational processes, and customers.

Research fellowship and training in Impact of Digital Transformation in Critical Infrastructure Organisations and their Cybersecurity Resilience Management and Governance.

Key findings

This fellowship will help a candidate to gain knowledge through novel research and training opportunities within the Cybersecurity Research lab at the CSE at Flinders by addressing the following research questions.

What is the difference between those that fell victim to cyber-attacks and those that did not? What are their organisational cybersecurity capabilities and resilience?
