Expanding the Donor Kidney Pool Through PIK3α Activation: A Novel Strategy for Enhancing Kidney Viability and Functionality

Project Details

Description

Kidney transplantation saves lives, but many donor kidneys are lost due to damage from lack of blood supply. Our project aims to improve recovery by stimulating natural growth pathways. We focus on PI3Kα, which drives cell growth and repair. Drug 1938, a PI3Kα activator, boosts kidney cell growth and may provide immune protection. This offers a new way to make more kidneys viable for transplantation.
