Extending the sober curious movement to reduce use of tobacco and nicotine

  • Massey University

Project Details

Description

The ‘sober curious’ movement has successfully led to many young Australians reducing or abstaining from alcohol use, a leading risk factor for cancers. This proposal will explore whether an adaption of the ‘sober curious’ movement can help young Australians avoid smoking and vaping. By reframing avoidance of tobacco and nicotine use as a ‘wellness and mindful living’ choice, the study will explore if this approach can reduce uptake of tobacco and vapes, supporting cancer prevention.
