The aim of the research was to investigate the outcomes of the Allied health rural generalist pathway in SA Health Regional Local Health Networks.
The objectives of the research included:
1.To explore the experience of the allied health professionals participating in the rural pathway and the impact on their skills, abilities and knowledge for practice
2.To understand the impact and perceptions of the pathway on supervisors, clinical leaders and managers working with rural generalist pathway trainees
3.To explore workforce challenges and opportunities for allied health professionals in rural and remote South Australia.
4.To explore how the pathway has impacted consumers perceptions, access and quality of allied health service delivery and development.
5.To identify where the rural generalist program works, which professions, locations and individual characteristics are particularly suited to the pathway.
6.To explore the costs and benefits of the pathway.
