Stand Strong, Walk Tall – Phase 2: Pilot Delivery and Evaluation

Project Details

Description

This project involves an evaluation of the materials and strategies used in the pilot promotional campaign for 'Stand Strong, Walk Tall: Prehabilitation for a Better Future' (SSWT), which is a pilot programme available in New Zealand that offers a free specialist therapeutic service to adults who experience sexual interest in
children.
Phase One of the SSWT research collaboration saw the development of a new preventative intervention programme, which was endorsed by the cross-government
Sexual Violence Prevention Advisory Board and funded by the Ministry of Social Development. Phase Two involves the rollout and evaluation of the pilot
programme in Christchurch, Auckland, and online. This subcontract covers a discrete research project within the broader Phase Two SSWT research collaboration, to be undertaken by the applicant. For this study, the anticipated 20 clients who engage with the service during the pilot will be invited to share their perspectives and feedback on the promotional campaign. SSWT clinicians will invite these clients to participate in the evaluation of the promotional strategy via an anonymous online survey, and clients may also opt in to a research interview to discuss the promotional materials and strategy in further depth with the researcher. The survey link and information sheet will also be made available on the SSWT website.
This project builds on the Dr Henry's prior research (see ‘Designing Effective Digital Advertisements to Prevent Online Consumption of Child Sexual Exploitation Material’,
published in Journal of Child Sexual Abuse). This study will continue to build an evidence base on effective prevention advertising to curb the incidence of sexual offending against children.
